To: Our Students, Staff, Parents, and Stakeholders including the Ministry of Education Officials
Dear SSC Family,
It is with great pride and purpose that I welcome you to the new academic year at St. Stanislaus College.
For over 160 years, SSC has stood as a beacon of excellence on Brickdam. Our legacy is not just in the names etched on our honor boards, but in the countless lives we have formed — young people of character, competence, and conscience who have gone on to serve Guyana and the wider world. That legacy now rests in our hands, and in yours.
This year, we recommit ourselves to four guiding themes:
Excellence
We will pursue the highest standards in teaching, learning, and service. Through technological innovation, academic rigor, and visionary leadership, we will challenge every student to reach their God-given potential. Excellence is not about being better than others. It is about being better than we were yesterday.
Legacy
We do not start from scratch. We stand on the shoulders of giants — Jesuit educators, dedicated teachers, alumni, and parents who built this institution. Our responsibility is to honor that legacy by forming compassionate, mindful, and responsible young people who will carry the SSC name forward with pride.
Culture
SSC is more than classrooms and exams. It is a culture — a culture of respect, creativity, and community. A culture where the arts, sports, leadership, and service are valued just as highly as academic achievement. A culture where every student is seen, valued, and given the opportunity to flourish.
Integrity
In all we do, we will act with integrity. To our students: make ethical decisions. To our staff: model the values we seek to instill. To our parents: partner with us in truth. To our stakeholders and Ministry of Education officials: we pledge transparency, accountability, and a shared commitment to national development through education.
To our new Grade 7 students and parents: Welcome home. You are now part of a family with a proud history and a bold future.
To our returning students and staff: Thank you for your continued dedication. Let us raise the bar together.
To our parents and guardians: You are our first and most important partners.
To our stakeholders and Ministry of Education officials: We value your support and collaboration as we work to transform lives and transform our nation.
The mission before us is clear: to develop leaders who act with empathy, make ethical decisions, and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Through visionary leadership, we will model the values we seek to instill.
May this year be one of growth, purpose, and achievement for all of us.
With respect and gratitude,
Roxanne LaFleur Foster
